ABOUT

The SVERG community brings together academics involved in research and teaching about large-scale sports venues, including major league, minor league and college venues, as well as those built for the Olympic Games, the FIFA World Cup and other major events.

SVERG is led by a board of directors representing sports venue scholars from across North America. The 2021-22 directors are introduced on the leadership page.

SVERG meetings and activities are mainly virtual. We meet monthly during the academic year. Our meetings include discussions, networking, and guest speakers. In-person activities are planned at annual NASSM conferences.

Membership is free and open to academics with a university affiliation as well as graduate students working in the venues subject area. Many of the resources on this website are password protected for members only. If you are interested in joining our group, please see the contact page.

In the US and Canada, SVERG is affiliated with NASSM - the North American Society for Sport Management. Founded in 2021, SVERG aims to expand to include other global sport management academic organizations in the future.

SVERG is currently administered by Dr. Judith Grant Long through the Sport Management Program at the University of Michigan.
